What is asbestos?

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used for centuries due to its many desirable properties, such as its resistance to heat and chemicals. Asbestos was commonly used in construction materials from the 1940s until the late 1990s, when it was banned in the UK.

There are six types of asbestos, and all of them are carcinogenic. This means that exposure to asbestos can lead to serious health problems, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis. These health problems can take many years to develop, which is why we recommend having any suspected asbestos removed from your property as soon as possible.

Asbestos Abatement

Asbestos abatement is the process of safely removing asbestos from a property. Asbestos removal should only be carried out by a trained professional, as exposure to asbestos can be extremely dangerous.

The first step in the asbestos abatement process is to identify where the asbestos is located in the property. This is usually done through a survey, which may involve taking samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials.

Once the location and extent of the asbestos have been identified, the removal process can begin. The area around the asbestos is sealed off to prevent any asbestos fibres from escaping into the air. The asbestos-containing materials are then removed and safely disposed of.

After the asbestos abatement process is complete, the area is thoroughly cleaned and tested to ensure that there are no traces of asbestos remaining.
