Asbestos surveys are essential because, as a property owner or manager, you are responsible for ensuring the safety of everyone on your property, including employees, families, and visitors. Asbestos surveys help identify any presence of asbestos-containing material (ACM) in the premises so that they can be monitored, managed and, in certain cases, removed.

The nature and scope of an asbestos survey vary depending on the type of property, age, use and condition of the building. There are two types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys.

Management Surveys are conducted to locate ACMs that may be disturbed or disturbed during normal occupancy and use of a building. The purpose of a management survey is to identify ACMS that may be present and assess their condition and potential to release fibers into the air.

Refurbishment/Demolition Surveys are more intrusive and extensive surveys that are carried out before refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This survey is necessary to locate all the ACMs within a building and identify their condition, type, and the amount of asbestos present. The surveyors will also provide a plan to safely remove any ACMs if needed.
