There are two types of asbestos survey that may be required, depending on the nature of the project. A management survey is a non-intrusive survey that is designed to identify any materials that could be damaged or disturbed during routine maintenance or daily occupancy. This type of survey is suitable for commercial or industrial properties that are not undergoing any significant refurbishment or demolition.

A refurbishment/demolition survey, on the other hand, is a more intrusive survey that is required before any refurbishment or demolition work takes place. This type of survey is necessary to identify any hidden asbestos-containing materials that could be disturbed during the works and pose a risk to the health of workers and the public.
