Asbestos survey is a legal requirement for all non-domestic properties in the UK under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The purpose of an asbestos survey is to identify whether asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are present in your property and assess the risk of exposure to the harmful fibres of asbestos.

The type of asbestos survey you need depends on the purpose of the survey, the type of building, and the condition of the building. There are two types of surveys: Management Survey and Refurbishment/Demolition Survey.

• Management survey: This survey is primarily a visual inspection to identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that may be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. The survey aims to identify the location, extent, and condition of ACMs that require management.

• Refurbishment/Demolition survey: This survey is a more intrusive and detailed inspection of the building's structure and materials. The survey aims to identify all ACMs that may be disturbed during refurbishment or demolition works.
