An asbestos survey is a mandatory requirement for all non-domestic properties in the UK, and any residential properties that were built before 2000. The purpose of an asbestos survey is to identify the presence, location, and condition of any ACMs in your building, and to recommend appropriate management measures to prevent exposure to asbestos fibres.

There are two main types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys.

• Management surveys - These surveys are designed to locate and assess the extent of any ACMs on your premises, which may be damaged or deteriorating. The survey will identify any risks to your occupants, visitors, or contractors who may come into contact with the ACMs, and provide recommendations on managing and monitoring the risks.
• Refurbishment/demolition surveys - These surveys are more intrusive and are carried out prior to any refurbishment or demolition works being carried out. They will identify any ACMs that may be disturbed during the works and provide advice and management measures to ensure the safe removal and disposal of the ACMs.
