An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of your property to identify the presence, type, and condition of any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). The purpose of an asbestos survey is to assess whether the ACMs pose a risk to the health of anyone who may come into contact with them.

There are two main types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys.

A management survey is the standard survey that is conducted on any property that is in use or on any property that is being sold or leased. The purpose of a management survey is to locate, as far as is reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy and maintenance.

A refurbishment/demolition survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. The purpose of a refurbishment/demolition survey is to locate, as far as is reasonably practicable, all the ACMs in the area where the refurbishment/demolition work will take place.
