Types of Asbestos Surveys

We offer different types of surveys, depending on your property's intended use and the level of disturbance expected. Here are the main types of asbestos surveys we conduct:

Management Survey

A management survey is required for all non-domestic properties built before the year 2000 or those suspected of containing ACMs. This survey aims to identify the presence, location, and condition of any ACMs that could be easily damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy.

During the management survey, our team will usually take up to 30 samples of building materials and analyze them to determine if ACMs are present. These samples are then analyzed in an accredited laboratory, and the results are included in a comprehensive report. The report will also include a risk assessment and a plan for managing any identified ACMs.

Refurbishment and Demolition Survey

A refurbishment and demolition survey (R&D survey) is required before any major refurbishment or demolition work takes place. This survey is more intrusive than a management survey and aims to identify all ACMs in a building, including those that are not easily accessible.

During an R&D survey, our team will usually take a large number of samples from all parts of the building, including hidden spaces. The samples will then be analyzed in an accredited laboratory to determine the type and amount of asbestos present. The results will be included in a detailed report that outlines the scope of work required to safely manage or remove any ACMs found.
