An asbestos survey is a legal requirement for any non-domestic building or property built or refurbished before the year 2000. The survey is the first step in identifying and managing any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that may be present in the property. The survey can help reduce the risk of costly and potentially dangerous ACMs.

There are two main types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys. Management surveys are non-intrusive and are generally conducted on the whole building during normal occupancy. Refurbishment/demolition surveys are intrusive and are conducted if the building or property is to be renovated or demolished.
