It is a legal requirement for building owners, contractors, and property developers to conduct asbestos surveys before any work is done on a property. There are two types of asbestos surveys:

• Management survey: This is the most common type of survey and is done to determine if there are any ACMs present in a building. The surveyor will inspect accessible areas, take samples, and record the location and condition of any ACMs.
• Refurbishment/Demolition survey: This survey is more intrusive than a management survey and is done before any refurbishment or demolition work is done on a building. The surveyor will inspect all areas, including those that are hidden, and will take samples of all suspected ACMs. This survey is necessary to ensure that all ACMs are safely removed before any work is done on the property.
