An asbestos survey is a comprehensive inspection of a property to identify the presence, type, and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). There are three types of asbestos surveys prescribed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):

• Asbestos Management Survey: This type of survey is required by law for all non-domestic properties to identify any ACMs that might be disturbed during normal occupancy or maintenance.

• Refurbishment and Demolition Survey: This type of survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work takes place and involves a comprehensive inspection of all areas of the building.

• Asbestos Re-inspection Survey: This type of survey is required periodically to monitor the condition of any previously identified ACMs and to update the asbestos management plan.
