An asbestos survey is an essential process that aims to identify and assess the presence, extent, and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a building or property. The survey report provides essential information on the type, location, and condition of ACMs, as well as risk assessments and recommendations for management or removal.

As per the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, there are two types of asbestos surveys:

1. Asbestos Management Survey This survey is suitable for buildings or properties where occupants are not at risk of disturbing ACMs. The survey aims to identify and assess the presence, location, and condition of all ACMs in the building, so that they can be safely managed and maintained.

2. Refurbishment or Demolition Survey This survey is suitable for buildings undergoing significant refurbishment or demolition. The survey aims to identify and assess all ACMs in the area of the refurbishment or demolition so that they can be safely removed before work starts.
