If you are planning any refurbishment or demolition work on a building that was constructed before the year 2000, you are legally required to carry out an asbestos survey to identify any potential hazards.

Types of Asbestos Surveys

At Affordable Asbestos Removal Devon, we offer two main types of asbestos surveys:

Management Survey

A management survey is the most basic type of asbestos survey. It aims to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.

Refurbishment/Demolition Survey

A refurbishment/demolition survey is required when the building (or part of it) is to be upgraded, refurbished, or demolished. The survey aims to locate all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within the area where the refurbishment work will take place or the whole building if demolition is planned. It is a far more invasive type of survey and requires access to all areas, regardless of whether they are considered accessible or not.
