Affordable Asbestos Removal Devon

As a homeowner or business owner in Devon, you may be wondering if the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) has any provisions for asbestos removal. The JCT is a standard form of building contract used in the UK, and it does address asbestos removal in certain circumstances. However, it's essential to understand the specifics of the JCT and how it applies to asbestos removal in Devon.

The JCT contract does contemplate asbestos removal, but it's not a straightforward process. The contract requires the contractor to notify the employer (the homeowner or business owner) if they encounter asbestos during the course of the work. The contractor is then responsible for taking reasonable steps to prevent the disturbance of asbestos-containing materials. However, the JCT contract does not explicitly require the contractor to remove asbestos.

If you're planning a construction project in Devon and suspect that your property may contain asbestos, it's crucial to take the necessary precautions. Asbestos is a hazardous material that can cause serious health problems if not handled correctly. In Devon, asbestos removal is regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. As a homeowner or business owner, you have a duty to ensure that asbestos is removed safely and in accordance with the regulations.
