Affordable Asbestos Removal Devon

As a homeowner or property owner in Devon, you may be wondering how much asbestos can be removed without a license. The rules surrounding asbestos removal can be complex, and it's essential to understand the regulations to avoid any potential risks or fines. At 1st Choice Asbestos, we're here to guide you through the process and provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions.

In the UK, the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 governs the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). The regulations state that anyone who intends to remove asbestos must be trained and certified to do so. However, there are some exceptions for small-scale, non-licensed asbestos removal work.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), non-licensed asbestos removal work is only permitted for small-scale, low-risk tasks, such as removing asbestos-containing textured coatings or asbestos cement products. However, even for these tasks, the person carrying out the work must still be trained and equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Removing asbestos without a license can be extremely hazardous, not only for the person carrying out the work but also for anyone nearby. Asbestos fibers can be released into the air, posing a significant risk to health. If you're caught removing asbestos without a license, you could face fines of up to £20,000 and even imprisonment.
