Are you looking to start a career in asbestos removal in Devon? As a leading asbestos removal company in the region, we understand the importance of proper training and certification. In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to become an asbestos remover in Devon and what you need to know to get started.

Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring minerals that were widely used in construction and insulation materials until the 1990s. However, it's now known to be a hazardous substance that can cause serious health problems, including lung cancer and mesothelioma. As a result, the UK government has implemented strict regulations around the handling and removal of asbestos-containing materials.

To become an asbestos remover in Devon, you'll need to undergo specialized training and obtain the necessary certification. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the governing body responsible for asbestos regulations in the UK. They recommend that anyone working with asbestos-containing materials completes a training course approved by the HSE.
There are several types of asbestos training courses available, including non-licensed and licensed courses. Non-licensed courses are suitable for individuals who will be working with non-licensed asbestos-containing materials, while licensed courses are required for those working with licensed materials.

An asbestos training course will cover the following topics:

• The risks associated with asbestos
• How to identify and handle asbestos-containing materials
• The use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Decontamination procedures
• Waste disposal and transportation
Courses are typically a combination of theoretical and practical training, and may include a written exam and a practical assessment.

Once you've completed your training and obtained your certification, you'll need to register your business and obtain the necessary licenses to operate as an asbestos remover in Devon. This includes registering with the HSE and obtaining a license to work with asbestos-containing materials.
