Affordable Asbestos Removal Devon

As a homeowner or business owner in Devon, it's essential to understand the regulations surrounding asbestos removal. Asbestos is a hazardous material that was widely used in building construction until the late 1990s. If you're planning to renovate or demolish a property built before the year 2000, you may need to consider asbestos removal. But when is asbestos removal notifiable in Devon?

Notifiable asbestos removal refers to the process of removing asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) from a property, which requires notification to the relevant authorities. In the UK, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulates asbestos removal, and certain types of asbestos removal work must be notified to the HSE before commencement. This includes the removal of asbestos insulation, asbestos coating, or asbestos lagging.

In Devon, asbestos removal is notifiable if the work involves the removal of more than 10 square metres of asbestos-containing materials. This includes the removal of asbestos cement sheets, asbestos insulation, or asbestos lagging. Additionally, if the work involves the removal of asbestos-containing materials in a high-risk situation, such as in a confined space or in a building with a high occupancy rate, it is also notifiable.
